Extras Awards Celebrate Outstanding Newspaper Advertising

The Canadian Newspaper Association, in conjunction with the Canadian Community Newspapers Association is pleased to launch the Extra Awards for 2010.
The Extra Awards celebrate outstanding advertising in newspapers and their sites. And we have done so for over 20 years in Canada!
The awards are open to all – agencies, advertisers and newspapers! Ads must have run in a community or daily newspaper or on a newspaper site in Canada between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.
ABC launches Literacy Media Sale
ABC Life Literacy Canada is gearing up for the 10th Annual ABC Life Literacy Media Sale (formerly the Gutenberg Media Grab) launching on April 26, 2010.
This is an online sale of media donated by leading magazines, newspapers, websites and outdoor media from across the country. The donated advertising space is sold online at 65% off the rate card value with all funds raised going towards ABC Life Literacy’s work to inspire Canadians to increase their literacy skills.

A recent survey from Ipsos Reid found that people of all ages are spending more and more time online, in fact they spend more than 18 hours a week online. While entertainment, information gathering and shopping may be popular activities, many Canadians are actually going online to champion causes they believe in using social media.
