Excitement builds toward Games Anniversary Weekend

Vancouver, B.C - Dust off your red mittens, Olympic fever is still glowing strong in Vancouver as a groundswell of public interest builds to relive the energy of the Games. Streets will be closed to host street hockey tournaments and cultural street parties. The cauldron will be re-lit and blue jacket volunteers will re-unite for a pancake breakfast at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, where VANOC CEO John Furlong will officially unveil his new book, Patriot Hearts -- Inside the Olympics that changed a country. Whistler and Richmond are also abuzz with anniversary celebrations planned for the village and the Oval.

Caught up in the excitement is talented Vancouver cake artist Jill Shumka, of The Uncommon Cake Company. The upcoming anniversary inspired Jill to create a cauldron shaped Games anniversary cake, which she presented to John Furlong today at his new Twentyten Group offices in Gastown, Vancouver.
