Happy Easter!

Between Commandeering egg hunts, chasing bunny rabbits and orchestrating visits from relatives, a lot of families struggle with the added stress or trying to prepare the perfect Easter brunch or dinner. That's why the Whirlpool Gold® Freestanding Range has teamed up with Sandi Richard, TV personality and author of the Cooking for the Rushed cookbook series, to provide these quick and easy Easter recipes and clean-up tips.

Slow-Baked Ham with Apricot Sauce
Using a can of pop as a marinade makes for a moist and delicious Easter ham. In about 20 minutes, prepare a rich and delicious apricot sauce to accompany it. And in 20 minutes after the meal, steam away tough stains on the oven floor, with the SteamClean cycle on the new Whirlpool® range.

Ingredients:
boneless, ready-to-serve, reduced-sodium ham (3-4 lbs or 1.3-1.8 kg)
1 can (12 oz or 355 mL) ginger ale
1/4 cup dried apricots
1 1/2 cups apple juice
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
pinch (1/8 tsp) ground cinnamon
pinch (1/8 tsp) ground cloves
1 Tbsp butter

Instructions:

1. Preheat Whirlpool® SteamClean range to 350ºF. Place ham in a roasting pan and pour ginger ale all over. Cover with foil, place in oven and set timer for 45 minutes.

...meanwhile...

2. Cut apricots into small pieces and simmer in apple juice in a small stove-top saucepan at medium heat. Set timer for 10 minutes. Blend together brown sugar, cornstarch and spices, in a small bowl. Whisk gradually into apple juice mixture until smooth. Bring to a gentle boil. Add butter, stir, remove from heat and set aside.

...when timer rings for ham...

3. Baste top of ham with liquid in roasting pan. Reset oven to 375ºF and return ham to oven. Set timer for 10 minutes. Discard liquid when done.

Suggestions: serve with mashed potatoes and green vegetables

Sandi's Time Champion Tip: Use the power of steam. Spills in the oven are inevitable – especially with a saucy recipe like this one. Select Whirlpool® ranges now offer a 20-minute SteamClean cycle. Run it while you're doing your clean-up and – without the smell, noise or time commitment required with traditional self-cleaning ovens – you're one wipe away from a clean oven.

Easy Easter Oven Pork Roast
A 20-minute blast of heat, then leave it to rast in the oven all day. And when you're done, a 20-minute blast of steam is all it takes to clean the oven color, with new SteamClean technology in the Whirlpool® range.

Ingredients:
3 lbs or 1350g pork top loin roast, boneless, trimmed
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Mrs. Dash Original seasoning

Instructions:

...the night before...

1. Place roast on a plate. Sprinkle with spices. Cover and let stand in fridge overnight.

...in the morning...

2. Preheat Whirlpool® SteamClean range to 450°F. Transfer roast to a shallow roasting pan. Place in preheated oven, uncovered. Set timer for 20 minutes. When timer rings, do not open oven – reduce heat to 180º F. Leave the roast in for up to 10 hours.

...when you’re ready to eat...

3. Reset oven to 350°F. Set timer for 30 min.

4. Transfer roast to plate. Wrap in foil to rest.

Suggestions: serve with applesauce, potatoes and asparagus

Sandi's Time Champion Tip: Use your oven as a slow cooker. By cooking a roast at a very high temperature for 20 minutes and then lowering the temperature for the rest of the day, you can relax with family while the oven does the work.
